BLONDIE
After answering a Job posting in Music Week UK (because of curiosity) “Best Engineer in England required, money no object please apply” I was working for Ringo Star at the time, I thought who would place an add like that? Long story short I ended up being offered the position of trainee Producer and Engineer to Hit Maker Mike Chapman!
I left Ringo with some reluctance and move to Los Angeles late 1978. My favirot artist at the time was Blondie and wow I found my self working with Mike and Blondie.
My first work with Blondie was mixing some of the singles from Parallel Lines Album with engineer Pete Coleman ad Mike Chapman.
We mixed an extended version of Heart of Glass the first 12” mix I had ever done.
Later in the year Mike and I went to NYC and the Power Station recording studios to produce the EAT to the Beat record.
After recording the album Debbie Harry called Mike Chapman and asked if I could go on tour with them to do the live sound for their Parallel Lines tour, which I did right as Heart of Glass hit #1 in the USA
